Captain Philip Pinder

There is no substitute for experience. Capt. Philip has had a great love for the water from his childhood in Poitier Lane, just half a block from the Nassau Harbour. He grew up swimming, fishing, and boating in the pristine waters around Nassau and Paradise Island. Then in 1978, as a young entrepreneur, Capt. Philip was the first captain to set up a deep-sea fishing charter business on Paradise Island in The Bahamas. He was inspired to name his boat Born Free after seeing the well-known movie of the same name.

Capt. Philip started as the mate on the Born Free II, learning all about deep-sea fishing from his Godfather Master Captain Milton Pearce of Nassau. He learned well, and by the time Capt. Pearce retired, Capt. Philip had built Born Free Fishing Charters into the premier fishing charter business in Nassau and Paradise Island, Bahamas. And he built his Born Free Fishing Charters the old-fashioned way: one satisfied charter guest at a time.

Capt. Philip says, “The best part of the day is having a satisfied customer at the end of the charter.” He and all of his crew do everything they can to attain this goal. He is proud that much of his business is made up of return customers, some of whom have been fishing with him at least once a year for 20 years or more.
